I've been talking about it forever, but I finally got around to it - I added a bunch of new stuff to my etsy shop.

Here's just a couple of the new things that went up:

First, some landscape birdhouses. I like painting on found objects, and i found some neat birdhouses that needed a little color. I'm not sure if a bird could fit in there, but what a stylish bird! I'd envision these more as art to display around the house, but you do you!

Second, I have some new driftwood necklaces available. They're on hemp cord and I think they look great with any outfit. They've been available locally at the art coop here, but I'm happy that they're now available everywhere!

Next, I'm sure you've seen my driftwood landscapes. I'm kind of obsessed with the...

I'm the first to admit that I'm always playing catch-up. While I'm usually a little bit behind, this one is way behind. I'm talking about last October.

Last fall I was invited to Duckfest in Bowdon, ND to do a live artist demo. Duckfest is a great event that brings together artists, hunters, farmers, and... well everyone i guess. There's fun, food, and a really high-quality art show.

I was in the library at the high school (an amazing project, considering that it was entirely community funded), and over the course of the day I did a few paintings. It was October, and the harvest was finishing up. Accordingly, my subjects for my paintings were some garden produce I'd pickled over the past few months.

First, I painted a 20x20 canvas of the...

Hi Internets!

So back in August my Plein Air painting group gave me the opportunity to attend the Northern Plains Ethnic Festival in Dickinson, and set up and painted among the crowds for a while. It was an amazing event (even if I arrived an hour early because Dickinson isn't in central time, but that's another story).

Regardless, I set up beneath a pine tree at the Prairie Outpost Park, and while the oom-pah of German music was ringing out, I did a couple paintings I'm pretty proud of. There was as beautiful antique windmill nearby and I had a great skinny canvas ready and I painted this:

My sister lives out in the county, and has a windmill, and when she saw this said "that looks like my windmill!" Maybe all windmills look the sa...

Is it already October? Summer always seems to go by too quickly.

Between my residency at Turtle River State Park, the Plein Air painting group I'm lucky to be a part of, gardening (and canning all the resulting goodies) fall has snuck up on me.

I promised a while ago that I'd post the oil paintings I did at my residency at Turtle River State Park, so better late than never - here they are!

As part of my residency, I donated one painting to the state park to be part of their permanent collection. It's such an honor to have my work on display where the inspiration struck me. It was a challenge to pick out the piece I thought best represented my residency, but I ended up choosing this one. It was the view of the sky and hillside from the ca...

I'm back home after my week-long residency at Turtle River State Park, and it was amazing!

In this part 1 post, I'll be sharing all my acrylic paintings (the oils haven't quite dried yet, but they should be posted next week).

Big thanks to all the staff at Turtle River State Park, the ND Council on the arts and the ND Parks department for making this residency possible.

When the oils are all dried and framed I'll be listing everything on Etsy, and running a sale via coupon code, so if you've been waiting to pick something up that'll be your chance!

First, Turtle River State Park is a truly amazing place. In the Eastern portion of North Dakota, Turtle River State Park is a beautiful and unusual landscape. There's rolling hills carved  by r...

July 16, 2016

I'm happy to announce that in a few short weeks I'll be undertaking a week-long residency at Turtle River State Park, just outside Grand Forks, ND. Thanks to North Dakota Parks and Recreation and the North Dakota council on the arts I have the opportunity to spend a week in a cabin and use the entire Turtle River State Park as inspiration for some new paintings!

At the end of the residency, I'll be hosting some free events for the community and donating a piece of art to the State Park. Specifically, on Saturday, August 5th, I'll be hosting an art journaling event from 1-3 pm at the CCC Memorial Shelter. This event will be fun for both kids and adults, and will focus on using all sorts of different pigments and inks to create fun color...
